You Capture: Quiet

Over the weekend I was photographing flowers in my garden in preparation for this week's challenge. It was pretty quiet and peaceful in the garden, until my daughter yelled "Quick! Look! Wow, it's huge!!"

And it was - a very large praying mantis. It was only sightly wary of me, hardly moving when I got closer and closer to take it's photo.

Here's a collage of close-up praying mantis shots.

Then I realised that a blue tongue lizard was quietly watching me from his sunny spot near the wall. He was being very quiet.

After taking a few shots of the lizard I turned back to the praying mantis which had quietly moved away ....

..... goodbye!

THose bugs have always creeped me out, lizards too! I can't beleive you got that close to them. Of course, maybe you used a zoom lense!

Finding creatures that share our outdoor space is a great pass-time of ours too. Beautiful animals you discovered!

Wow! You have some seriously creepy animals/reptiles/bugs in your area. I would be so freaked.

That's awesome of you able to be quiet enough not to scare it away. Me I would have been so grossed out I would have run from it. :)

Ahh! I would've been running the other way! The best I ever did was getting a close-up of a grasshopper, and one of a spider (but from further away, thank god for good zoom).
Wonderful captures!
